Surprise visit

Last night Nately J happen to be in town and unexpectedly had the evening free to hang out with us! We were reminiscing about "drop-in" friends and lamenting the lack thereof in our current lives. It was excellent to have a friend drop-in on us! Why do people seem to outgrow this wonderful aspect of relationships? I'm definitely not ready to give it up.

you could move to Lebanon, where, according to my mom the whole culture lives this way and the notion of calling ahead is foreign!

But then there would be all sorts of cultural rules for guest treatment and behavior that I would certainly break, resulting again in no drop-in friends!

Ahh, the drop in. We occasionally have a drop in here, but not like at home. In the country, if you drive by, you at least honk and most likely you stop. Even if it means you stay in the truck and only chat for 10 minutes. If you stop by at lunch, you eat with them. If you stop by mid-morning or mid-afternoon you at least drink some coffee. I would love to do the drop in, but I feel like most people do not like it.
